Long wait in A&E
March 25, 2024
During my recent visit to A&E it was very busy and there was a very long wait to be seen. Luckily after 45 minutes I was able to tell the doctor that I was there for my heart and I was sent through to urgent care.
Excellent care from cancer service

I cannot fault the care provided by the cancer services department. I have visited for chemotherapy tablet and immunotherapy and every time the staff and doctors have been brilliant.

I have been waiting for over 6 months to see an urgent consultant in gynecology.
Told there was nothing that could be done
March 19, 2024
I visited Heartlands Hospital 6 months ago to see a respiratory consultant about a condition which is restricting my breathing. I was told there was nothing that could be done and I have not been able to get a face to face appointment since. I have been offered phone appointments but I feel that I need to see someone in person due to the severity of this condition.
Doctors and nurses are great

I recently attended a number of appointments here as part of an ongoing prostate cancer investigation. I am very happy with this service, the doctors and nurses have been great.
Discharged against my will

I went to see a consultant for an enlarged, painful vein. I was told that there was no funding for the operation unless it became ulcerated and was then discharged against my will.
Good standard of care

I visit for injections every 10 months. Care from this service has always been good and I get free parking with my blue badge.
Excellent service from the diabetes clinic
March 8, 2024
I attend the Diabetes Clinic at Heartlands Hospital on a regular basis. My experience has been very good. The staff are great and they provide a good service, an outstanding level of care, and useful information and advice.
Given worrying news by sonographer
March 8, 2024
I had a heart scan at the Heartlands Hospital and the sonographer told me that my main artery looked swollen. I was told this unofficially and quite casually and it has caused me a great deal of anxiety and distress while I wait for my 'official' results from my GP. I am not happy that this was disclosed at the appointment without any further information or advice being given.
24 hours of back & forth between departments
March 8, 2024
My experience was very poor. I was brought in by ambulance to A&E. After a lengthy wait A&E referred me to the Badger department. Following another long wait I was given a letter and told to go to Ward 20 for assessment. Ward 20 was very busy but I did have a number of tests done. I was then sent to another ward because ward 20 was closing. I had none of my medication with me and it was a battle with the staff for my diabetes medication to be supplied to me. The whole experience was stressful and very frustrating.
