Trying to get appointment is not good

Trying to get an appointment at GP is not great.
Lines open at 8am with a queue of 10 people.
By the time I get through no appointments left, told to ring back tomorrow and same thing happens again.

Waiting time on the phone for appointment

It takes 2 hours to wait on the phone to speak with the doctor once you get through, then after, I have to call again for an appointment to see the doctor face to face after phone consultation. In addition, I have to wait another week before seeing the doctor.

Not happy with going to different surgery

I am not happy with traveling to different surgeries when my main surgery is a walking distance. It is sometimes very inconvenient for me and my family. I have had to cancel some appointment because I cannot get there.

No appointment at GP, took advice from friend

Can't get through to the surgery. I am a vet, so I know I am not contacting the surgery unnecessarily.
The call cuts off when on hold with 50 in queue.
Tried to call for an appointment for son and couldn't get through so took advice from friend who was a doctor.

Now I never call GP. I have a cough myself, but I am not following it up.

Poor service

Long wait to get through. Difficulty in getting appointed.
Failure to respond to complaint.
Reluctance to diagnose menopause.
Inaccurate patient records.

Miscommunication about blood test

I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and I am under observation. I am required to do blood test every 3 months. Pre- covid, I was getting my blood test done at the GP surgery, now they are asking me to go to the hospital to get my blood test done. It takes me 5 minutes to get to my GP and it will take me longer time to get there. The receptionists are not helpful, and they do not give any tangible reason for their decisions.

No issues with the GP

The service is very good, I have had no issues and I believe if the service users where more educated on how to be healthy, then there will not be any pressure on the services. The professionals are doing their best.

Mistakes with medication prescription

I gave the receptionist a list of medications from the doctor to send it to pharmacist. The receptionist made a lot of mistakes and wrote wrong medications for me to pay and collect from the pharmacy. When I got home and realized that there have been errors, I went back to the GP for clarification, and nothing has been done, I have not been able to get a refund for the wrong medicines for new ones. I had to pay again to get the right ones.

Good improvement

In the first quarter of 2021 it was quiet difficult with accessing GP, it was done virtually but now it seems to be sorting out well. I have had two face to face appointments and its all good now.

Long waiting time on the phone

I will spend almost 50 minutes on the phone just to be cut off then when I walk in the reception tells me to call only and not walk in.
